Building Project
Honoring the Past… Building for the Future
BUILDING PROJECT
The projected cost for expanding the campus has been set at $2 million. In an effort to raise funds for this project the school board authorized launching a capital fund campaign.
Our Vision
Fresta Valley Christian School was born out of a desire to prepare young people to achieve their God-given potential. Education is a combination of what is learned and experienced. The strength of one’s character is the “internalized result” of this process.
There is a growing demand for an educational program designed to emphasize the core values that have served as the cornerstone of our culture. Our school is committed to becoming “an educational light” in this community, and a resource for restoring godly character and values in this generation of young people.
The growth of Fauquier County, the increased demand for Christian education, and our relentless pursuit to provide the finest and most complete educational experience possible, has led the school board and administration to expand our already overextended facilities.
In our search for professional help to maximize existing space while adding more to meet the challenges of growth, the school engaged Building God’s Way, the nation’s premier design/build company for Christian schools and churches. With their guidance we evaluated existing facilities, identified needs, and began the process of designing a plan to accommodate those needs. Our leadership team’s effort has resulted in the plan that follows.
Recommendations
A review of the overall facility layout makes it evident that Fresta Valley Christian School has made maximum use of its available square footage. There is no additional space that would allow the school to expand existing programs or create new ones. In order for Fresta to serve current students’ needs, as well as grow and accept new students, the academic facility must be enlarged. Therefore, with the knowledge that everything recommended may require multiple phases, we propose the following significant changes:
1. Construct a larger multi-purpose space - We recommend the addition of a larger multi-purpose space replacing the existing one. This space would be used for chapel, a full-size gymnasium, theater, assembly hall, and cafeteria. The space would be designed to allow for bleachers on at least one side. Also proposed are support spaces, including storage and girls’ and boys’ locker rooms.
2. Expand the parking lot - As part of the school expansion, the parking lot will be enlarged and paved. This would not only provide defined parking areas so that vehicular traffic lanes are clearly designated, allow pedestrians to better anticipate where cars will be, but it would also provide for additional parking to support the new proposed multi-purpose space.
3. Turn existing multi-purpose room into classrooms - When the larger multi-purpose space is constructed, the existing flex space could be subdivided into classes as necessary. While many combinations exist for dividing this space, it is recommended that the space to the west become two classrooms, and the space on the east be left open, yet closed off from the hallway with a new wall. The large room could be outfitted with an operable partition to divide the room into two. This scenario provides for two additional classrooms and still maintains a gathering spot for chapel, lunch, and other assemblies for the elementary school.
